Joan grew up in Coll de Nargó, Catalonia. He is pursuing his M.S. degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria de Telecomunicació (ETSETB), within the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), in Barcelona.

He is currently doing his Master Thesis in the Broadband Wireless Networking Lab under the guidance of Pr. Dr. Ian F. Akyildiz, with a fellowship from the Vodafone Foundation. The Broadband Wireless Networking Lab belongs to the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, within the Georgia Institute of Technology (GaTech).

The research being done is focused on Nanonetworks.

Honors and Awards

  • Vodafone Foundation Fellowship, awarded to outstanding graduate students in the Escola Tècnica i Superior d'Enginyeria de Telecomunicació de Barcelona, to conduct graduate research in the USA, Fall 2009-Spring 2010.
