Prof. I.F. Akyildiz is awareded the “2017 IEEE ComSoc TCCN Recognition Award” by the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on Cognitive Networks (TCCN) with citation “for pioneering contributions to spectrum sensing, spectrum sharing algorithms and communication protocols for cognitive radio networks”.[Link]

The paper entitled “Novel MI-based (FracBot) Sensor Hardware Design for Monitoring Hydraulic Fractures and Oil Reservoirs” coauthored by Carlos Martins, Abdallah Alshehri and Ian F. Akyildiz received the best paper award at the the 8th IEEE Conference on Ubiquitous Computing, Electronics and Mobile Communication, in New York City, on Oct 19-21, 2017 [Photo].

Patents granted

Dr. I.F. Akyildiz and alumnus (2013) Dr. J.M. Jornet are granted the patent “Graphene-based Plasmonic Nano-antenna for Terahertz Band Communication” (US 14/253,539).

Together with their recently issued patent on “Graphene-based Plasmonic Nano-transceiver employing HEMT for Terahertz Band Communication” (US 14/560,213),

Dr. I.F. Akyildiz and Dr. J.M. Jornet own the intellectual property to build the complete front-end for ultra-broadband communication networks in the Terahertz Band, i.e., the next frontier for wireless communications. [Plaque]
